天Thiên 長trường, 地địa 久cửu. 。
Trời dài, đất lâu.
Heaven is long-enduring and earth continues long.

天Thiên 地địa 所sở 以dĩ 能năng 長trường 且thả 久cửu 者giả, ，
Trời đất sở dĩ dài lâu
The reason why heaven and earth are able to endure and continue thus long

以dĩ 其kỳ 不bất 自tự 生sinh, ， 故cố 能năng 長trường 生sinh. 。
chính vì không sống cho mình, vì thế nên trường sinh.
is because they do not live of, or for, themselves. This is how they are able to continue and endure.

是Thị 以dĩ 聖thánh 人nhân, 後hậu 其kỳ 身thân 而nhi 身thân 先tiên, ；
Vì vậy thánh nhân để thân ra sau mà thân ở trước;
Therefore the sage puts his own person last, and yet it is found in the foremost place;

外ngoại 其kỳ 身thân 而nhi 身thân 存tồn. 。
để thân ra ngoài mà thân còn.
he treats his person as if it were foreign to him, and yet that person is preserved.

非Phi 以dĩ 其kỳ 無vô 私tư 耶da? ？ 故Cố 能năng 成thành 其kỳ 私tư. 。
Phải chăng vì không riêng lòng tư kỷ, nên vẫn thành được cái riêng lòng tư kỷ?
Is it not because he has no personal and private ends, that therefore such ends are realised?
