善Thiện 行hành 無vô 轍triệt 迹tích. ，
Đi khéo không để vết chân.
The skilful traveller leaves no traces of his wheels or footsteps;

善Thiện 言ngôn 無vô 瑕hà 讁trích. ；
Nói khéo không có lỗi lầm.
the skilful speaker says nothing that can be found fault with or blamed;

善Thiện 數số 不bất 用dụng 籌trù 策sách. ；
Đếm khéo không dùng thẻ.
the skilful reckoner uses no tallies;

善Thiện 閉bế 無vô 關quan 楗kiện 而nhi 不bất 可khả 開khai. ，
Đóng khéo không róng, chốt mà không mở được.
the skilful closer needs no bolts or bars, while to open what he has shut will be impossible;

善Thiện 結kết 無vô 繩thằng 約ước, 而nhi 不bất 可khả 解giải. 。
Thắt khéo, không dây rợ mà không cởi được.
the skilful binder uses no strings or knots, while to unloose what he has bound will be impossible.

是Thị 以dĩ 聖thánh 人nhân, 常thường 善thiện 救cứu 人nhân, ， 故cố 無vô 棄khí 人nhân; ；
Cho nên thánh nhân thường khéo cứu người, nên không có ai bị bỏ;
In the same way the sage is always skilful at saving men, and so he does not cast away any man;

常thường 善thiện 救cứu 物vật ， 故cố 無vô 棄khí 物vật. 。
thường khéo cứu vật nên không có vật nào bị bỏ.
he is always skilful at saving things, and so he does not cast away anything.

是Thị 謂vi 襲tập 明minh. 。
Thế gọi là sáng gấp đôi.
This is called ‘Hiding the light of his procedure.’

故Cố 善thiện 人nhân 者giả ， 不bất 善thiện 人nhân 之chi 師sư, ；
Cho nên người hay là thày kẻ dở.
Therefore the man of skill is a master (to be looked up to) by him who has not the skill;

不bất 善thiện 人nhân 者giả, ， 善thiện 人nhân 之chi 資tư. 。
Kẻ dở giúp người hay.
and he who has not the skill is the helper of (the reputation of) him who has the skill.

不Bất 貴quí 其kỳ 師sư, ， 不bất 愛ái 其kỳ 資tư, ，
Không quí người hay, không yêu kẻ dở,
If the one did not honour his master, and the other did not rejoice in his helper,

雖tuy 智trí 大đại 迷mê, ， 是thị 謂vị 要yếu 妙diệu. 。
dẫu là bậc trí, cũng mê lầm. Sự mầu nhiệm cốt yếu là ở chỗ đó.
an (observer), though intelligent, might greatly err about them. This is called ‘The utmost degree of mystery.’
