不Bất 出xuất 戶hộ, 知tri 天thiên 下hạ. ；
Chẳng ra khỏi cửa mà biết thiên hạ.
Without going outside his door, one understands (all that takes place) under the sky;

不Bất 闚khuy 牖dũ 見kiến 天thiên 道đạo. 。
Chẳng dòm qua cửa sổ, mà biết đạo Trời.
without looking out from his window, one sees the Dao of Heaven.

其Kỳ 出xuất 彌di 遠viễn, ， 其kỳ 知tri 彌di 少thiểu. 。
Đi càng xa, biết càng ít.
The farther that one goes out (from himself), the less he knows.

是Thị 以dĩ 聖thánh 人nhân 不bất 行hành 而nhi 知tri, ， 不bất 見kiến 而nhi 名danh, ， 不bất 為vi 而nhi 成thành. 。
Cho nên thánh nhân chẳng đi mà biết, chẳng thấy mà hay, chẳng làm mà nên.
Therefore the sages got their knowledge without travelling; gave their (right) names to things without seeing them; and accomplished their ends without any purpose of doing so.
