為Vi 學học 日nhật 益ích, ， 為vi 道Đạo 日nhật 損tổn. 。
Theo học ngày một thêm, theo Đạo ngày một bớt.
He who devotes himself to learning (seeks) from day to day to increase (his knowledge); he who devotes himself to the Dao (seeks) from day to day to diminish (his doing).

損Tổn 之chi 又hựu 損tổn ， 以dĩ 至chí 於ư 無vô 為vi. 。
Bớt rồi lại bớt, đến mức Vô vi.
He diminishes it and again diminishes it, till he arrives at doing nothing (on purpose).

無Vô 為vi 而nhi 無vô 不bất 為vi, 。
Không làm mà không gì không làm;
Having arrived at this point of non-action, there is nothing which he does not do.

取thủ 天thiên 下hạ 常thường 以dĩ 無vô 事sự. ，
muốn được thiên hạ phải dùng vô vi;
He who gets as his own all under heaven does so by giving himself no trouble (with that end).

及Cập 其kỳ 有hữu 事sự ， 不bất 足túc 以dĩ 取thủ 天thiên 下hạ. 。
dùng hữu vi không đủ để được thiên hạ.
If one take trouble (with that end), he is not equal to getting as his own all under heaven.
