勇Dũng 於ư 敢cảm 則tắc 殺sát. ，
Mạnh bạo dám làm là chết,
He whose boldness appears in his daring (to do wrong, in defiance of the laws) is put to death;

勇Dũng 於ư 不bất 敢cảm 則tắc 活hoạt. 。
mạnh bạo chẳng dám làm là sống.
he whose boldness appears in his not daring (to do so) lives on.

此Thử 兩lưỡng 者giả ， 或hoặc 利lợi 或hoặc 害hại. 。
2 cái đó, hoặc lợi hoặc hại.
Of these 2 cases the one appears to be advantageous, and the other to be injurious.

天Thiên 之chi 所sở 惡ác, ， 孰thục 知tri 其kỳ 故cố. ？
Cái mà Trời ghét, ai mà biết được căn do,
But When Heaven’s anger smites a man, Who the cause shall truly scan?

是Thị 以dĩ 聖thánh 人nhân 猶do 難nan 之chi. 。
thánh nhân còn lấy làm khó nữa là.
On this account the sage feels a difficulty (as to what to do in the former case).

天Thiên 之chi 道đạo ，
Đạo Trời
It is the way of Heaven

不bất 爭ngôn 而nhi 善thiện 勝thắng, ，
không tranh mà thành,
not to strive, and yet it skilfully overcomes;

不bất 言ngôn 而nhi 善thiện 應ứng, ，
không nói, mà người hưởng ứng,
not to speak, and yet it is skilful in (obtaining a reply);

不bất 召triệu 而nhi 自tự 來lai, ，
không mời mà người tự tới,
does not call, and yet men come to it of themselves.

繟thản 然nhiên 而nhi 善thiện 謀mưu. 。
nhẹ nhàng mà công việc vẫn xong xuôi.
Its demonstrations are quiet, and yet its plans are skilful and effective.

天Thiên 網võng 恢khôi 恢khôi, ， 踈sơ 而nhi 不bất 失thất. 。
Lưới Trời lồng lộng, thưa mà chẳng lọt.
The meshes of the net of Heaven are large; far apart, but letting nothing escape.
