凡Phàm 訓huấn 蒙mông,
須tu 講giảng 究cứu;
Dạy trẻ con nên giảng xét kỹ lưỡng
In the education of the young, there should be explanation and elucidation,

詳Tường 訓huấn 詁hổ,
明minh 句cú 讀đậu.
Tường tận nghĩa xưa, ngắt câu rõ ràng
careful teaching of the interpretations of commentators, and due attention to paragraphs and sentences.

為Vi 學học 者giả,
必tất 有hữu 初sơ;
Làm người đi học ắt phải biết chỗ bắt đầu
Those who are learners, must have a beginning.

小Tiểu 學học 終chung,
至chí 四Tứ 書Thư.
Học xong tiểu học mới tới Tứ Thư.
The “little learning” finished, they proceed to the “four books”.
